Type III 550 Paracord is the commercial version of Mil Spec 550 Parachute Cord also known as Mil Spec Paracord or Mil Spec 550 Paracord. The smooth and soft texture of the rope comes from the 32 strands interwoven nylon outer sleeve. Encased in the sleeve are 7 nylon inner core strands, both of which contribute to the cords 550-pound tensile strength. It resists rot, mold, mildew and UV damage.
